4 Day Guided Expedition

We'll meet at our base, junction of Queen Charlotte Drive and Anakiwa Road, at 8:30AM for a briefing, fitting and packing of your kayaks before heading out onto Queen Charlotte Sound, your new home for the next four days. On this trip you set the pace and the destinations - you can be as relaxed or as hard as you want to be.

Besides paddling our way up the Sound you will also have the opportunity to visit and go bush walking on some of the many isolated and secluded islands of the Sounds. Your Guide will be able to provide you with information about the flora and fauna of the Sounds as well as providing some interesting facts about the history of the area. Some of these places that you may like to visit include Motuara Island Bird Sanctuary, Blumine Island, Ship Cove, Mistletoe Bay, Torea Bay and many more.

Queen Charlotte Sound offers you many unique experiences in its vast water ways, from hidden inlets and coves to observing the marine and bird life.

Throughout the trip we will be stopping at Department of Conservation (DOC) campsites. Facilities at these locations vary from Back Country Huts to simplistic camping. You can determine just how you want to run your trip.

We will supply all specialised kayak and safety equipment and a guide for your trip. Besides helping you with planning and route finding, your guide will also be able to take the worry away about weather and safety decisions.

One of the special things about this unique area is that no trip is the same as another. You have endless opportunities to plan and create your own special expedition. We can help you with suggestions and route planning and provide you with estimates on time and distance - but of course you can always change these mid trip. That's the beauty of being out on the water with no fixed destination. Sea kayaking, one of the best ways to travel!

Pick ups from Picton or Havelock can be arranged and storage of your vehicle in an off road location can also be accommodated.

You will need to bring your own food, camping and personal items.
